External storage and file sharing is beneficial for all uses of the internet, especially content creation when wanting to keep your information in case it every gets lost accidentally any other way. External storage and file sharing is a way to save your information and documents on to a cloud online externally from your own computer. These external storage and file sharing apps are usually safer for your information, convenient to use, and easier on your computer since it uses storage space from the external storage rather than your computer’s storage to save and store files. Three of these types of cloud storage that are compatible with WordPress are Google Drive, Dropbox, and Microsoft OneDrive. These all provide extra external storage to keep your information save, easily accessible, and protected in case your personal information gets lost on your computer. All internet users alike may benefit from external storage, but if you are a content creator or even a business that requires the constant storing of file, documents, and records then an external storage app like Google Drive, Dropbox or Microsoft OneDrive may be for you, but the drawback here is that if files you require to save are larger than normal in size, say, files for content creators than you may need to buy extra storage. Another drawback is that if you have no internet connection you may not be able to access these files. Additionally, to keep your files up to date to prevent loss of data you must have consistent backup or else your data may be lost forever. For instance, when I was younger and had a phone, I had a Google account but did not understand the purpose of a backup. I did not backup my phone consistently. Then there was that sudden day when my phone stopped working and my parents needed to buy me another phone. I had a Google account, but I did not consistently backup my data correctly. I received my new phone, and all my data was not completely there. Now that I am older, I understand that if I use cloud storage then it is my responsibility to make sure that I backup my data consistently or make sure there is a setting for backups to happen automatically. Another option that is not remote storage is simply buying a flash drive and saving your content on the flash drive. A flash drive provides personal control over your own information where you can take your flash drive and plug it into any computer. With a flash drive you may also use more storage on the flash drive than you would on your computer, and it is easier on your computer that way. The drawback to this is if you lose your flash drive you lose all your information which may easily go into the wrong hands. Personally, the combination of cloud external storage and a flash drive are both beneficial to have.
